Nevada Senate Candidate Adam Laxalt: Turn Out and We’ll Win

7 Nov 2022

BUCK: Mr. Laxalt, how are you doing, sir?

LAXALT: We feel great. We just finished a two-week tour, a bus tour across the state. As I like to point out, we closed in my hometown of Reno with about 300 people while Senator Masto was campaigning with Bill Clinton in Las Vegas to about 50 to 100 people. So, it certainly shows the enthusiasm gap and also shows the desperation of Senator Cortez Masto trying to bring in the likes of Barack Obama and Jimmy Kimmel and all these folks, because their turnout looks super weak, and our folks are engaged and excited to help save our country and save our great state.

CLAY: For everybody listening to us right now in Nevada, you mentioned turnout looks weak. I know there are early voting numbers out now that’s officially been completed that look very, very good for Nevada as we get ready for official Election Day tomorrow. What can you tell us about those numbers and what they suggest to you in your campaign as Election Day looms tomorrow?

LAXALT: Yeah. Well, look, early vote, Democrats vote heavier than Republicans, and they only have just over a one-point lead after all of early vote. That’s mail, in-person for two weeks. And as long as our people turn out on Election Day — and we have an awful lot of Election Day voters all across our state — we will win this race and we’ll win it convincingly. So people got to get out and vote. You got some rain in Vegas. You got some snow in northern Nevada. We can’t let weather hold us back, and I’m sure we won’t because the stakes are as high as they’ve ever been for us to save our state.

CLAY: Adam, when you start looking at these early returns on Election Night, what area of the state is going to tell you, “Hey, we won this race/we didn’t win this race.” I know the whole state matters, but where is kind of a window into what the margin might be like that your data people and you will be looking at.

LAXALT: Yeah. It always comes down to, you know, Las Vegas and rural Nevada. And so we need to make sure rural Nevada comes out. And so far, they’ve been steady and a lot more to go on Election Day. And then as long as we lose Vegas by less than ten points, then we’re going to win this race. And, you know, certainly the numbers are well below ten right now — just, you know, are Republican to Democrat. We also believe that we are winning independents. There’s been five consecutive polls. We were up six with Emerson, six with Insider Advantage, Susquehanna five.

All of the polls in the last week have me winning independents by double digits. If we’re winning independents by double digits, it’s game over, of course. And if you believe, as we do, that more Democrats are voting for me than Republicans voting for her, then we win that way as well. I’ll add a third way. If the Hispanic vote has moved from her winning in 16 by 40 points to — what we’re consistently seeing — about a ten-point margin. If that holds, then it’s game over. And so we’ve got a lot of paths to victory. We are ahead today after early votes by our own numbers, and we feel like we’re going to win Election Day and have a good, comfortable win and bring this thing home.

BUCK: We’ve only got about 45 seconds. We’re speaking to Adam Laxalt, and, Adam, I just want to know, for the people of Nevada: It’s the day before game day. What do they need to know?

LAXALT: They need to know that we’ve had two years of misery under Joe Biden and Catherine Cortez Masto as well as Governor Steve Sisolak. Shutdowns, highest gas prices we’ve ever had, inflation, all-time highs and fentanyl overdoses thanks to their open border. All that can stop in the next 24 hours. If everyone gets out and votes, we will have a resounding victory and start the march to taking our country back and our state back and putting a check on Joe Biden and this radical leftist march they’ve been taking us on in the last few years.

BUCK: Adam Laxalt, to our Nevada listeners. Go out there. Get it done, Adam. We’ll talk to you soon.
