Anti-Science Philadelphia Reimposes School Mask Mandate
23 May 2022
CLAY: The City of Philadelphia has reinstituted mask mandates. They’re requiring all students and staff to wear masks during the school and workday and while riding on school buses and vans. They had just recently finally ended them. Remember the City of Philadelphia, Buck, came back with an indoor mask mandate, and then when nobody else followed it, they rescinded it? So there’s an argument to be made that Philadelphia is the most anti-science city in America right now, continuing to embrace masks. So far New York City, your new mayor, Eric Adams has avoided the indoor mask mandate but —
BUCK: He’s got other problems because random people are just murdering people on the subway with no provocation. This just happened over the weekend. By the way, my girlfriend Carrie was on that subway line — further uptown — right around when that happened. Stuff like that goes on. You just have a random stranger walk up and just execute somebody. When I say… Look, “no reason” meaning completely random. Not even a, “Hey, give me your wallet.” Just someone just walks up and kills somebody. New York’s got problems. So does Chicago, obviously.
CLAY: It’s awful. And I’m afraid this thing is going to spread from Philadelphia if you’re out there and you’re a parent and you’re in L.A. or San Francisco or you’re in New York City — really you’re listening to us in any blue city in America right now — this is crazy. Maybe the school day will be done, the school year. My kids get out on Wednesday, but there’s still a month left in a lot of different parts of the country.
