Left-Wing Climate Extremists Block NYC Traffic

BUCK: I saw this this morning in New York City. For our New York folks, obviously we have a big audience on WOR and really appreciate you all tuning in. You had the FDR and the Hudson River Parkway blocked this morning by people who were part of this group, Clay, called Extinction Rebellion. These people are lunatics. They think that they’re gonna force Biden’s climate agenda, and they’re gonna do so by stopping people from getting to work in their morning commute.

As you and I were talking about, somebody could be on their way to a job interview that they’ve been trying to get for six months — and as you and I also both know, you show up late to a job interview, even if there’s a totally legitimate excuse, that’s a tough one. They’re hurting people’s lives here and no chance of changing their minds.

CLAY: I am 100% opposed, on principle, to anyone that blocks traffic to advocate for any political cause, whatever. Doesn’t matter what it is. Might be something I’m sympathetic to otherwise. As soon as you block traffic and disallow people to go about their normal existence, I’m opposed 100% to whatever you’re standing up for. I can’t think of a more…

And some people out there say, “Well, that’s why they do it, to draw attention.” Yeah, to guarantee that not only am I opposed now to whatever you are advocating for, that I will go out of my way to actually advocate against you going forward. I think anybody who tries to stop traffic should be immediately put in prison, jail, and put there for as long as you can.

Regardless of the politics, content neutral, throw the book at ’em, don’t allow this to happen for any reason. I empathize with New Yorkers of all stripes and persuasions who got caught up in this, ’cause this has been a big tactic for the past, what, five or six years, this shutting down roads somewhere?

BUCK: Going back to the Occupy Wall Street days in 2011/2012. Remember that left-wing movement? It had Occupy offshoots all over the country. They had it in Oakland, had it in San Francisco, had it in Atlanta, had it in D.C., had it all over the place, and they would shut down traffic. The thing about it is that it’s so disrespectful, inconsiderate, and also self-defeating. When people shut down traffic because they’re upset about the climate, I want to go and let my car idle — if I had a car, which I don’t, but you get what I’m saying. I’d let my car idle for a couple days just in response.
