Fauci Flip-Flops on Canceling Christmas
4 Oct 2021
Listen Here:
BUCK: Let’s start with the worst little lab coat tyrant in America, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who appeared on Face the Nation this weekend and was asked the question — it’s one of our favorite questions — “Dr. Fauci, are we allowed to…? Can we breathe? Can we see people? Can we live life?” There are people who still want to beg for the ability to do these things, and here he is telling everybody, maybe Christmas has gotta be canceled again.
FAUCI: You know, Margaret, it’s just too soon to tell. We just gotta concentrating (sic) on continuing to get those numbers down and not try to jump ahead by weeks or months and say what we’re gonna do at a particular time. Let’s focus like a laser on continuing to get those cases down. And we can do it by people getting vaccinated — and also, in the situation where boosters are appropriate, to get people boosted.
CLAY: It’s crazy. It’s absolutely crazy, Buck, that we are still in a spot where Dr. Fauci would be, one, anybody listening to him. I don’t know about you out there, but we had a pretty normal Christmas last year in the Travis household. And now that anyone who wants to be vaccinated can be vaccinated, the idea that people would go two Christmases without living their normal lives is madness to me.
It boggles my mind as someone who just came back from a stadium filled with (chuckles) 100,000 people — and who has been on the road all fall going to the biggest college football games in the country — that there’s anyone on earth who wouldn’t be living their normal Christmas life, especially for people who are older. Because you don’t know how many Christmases you’re going to have with your family when you get into your seventies and your eighties.
So the idea that you would just sit one out and not be around your loved ones?Even last year that was crazy to me. This year, it’s pure madness, Buck. How many people…? I mean this in an honest way. How many people are still listening to Dr. Fauci when it comes to advice like this? And I mean, Buck, actually listening to him, not playing the pretend game of listening to him. What percentage of Americans do you think are going to significantly restrict their Thanksgiving or Christmas this year because of covid?
BUCK: (sigh) I think there will be a lot of people who make a show of it.
CLAY: Yeah.
BUCK: When I say, “a lot,” a surprising number of blue checks and prominent Democrats will take selfies next to their dining room table all by themselves saying, “Because I take the virus seriously, I’m listening to Fauci this year.” And then those people will go hang out for their Friendsgiving or their nondenominational Christmas/whatever celebration, and they’ll be hanging out with 30 people with no masks on. I think it’s very tough to tell how many will actually do it. But, Clay, there are people who will do it. You see the polling right now on vaccinating kids.
CLAY: Oh, yeah. It’s scary.
BUCK: It’s insane: 40% of the country is like, “Yeah, I’m gonna vaccinate my kid.” Why? Remember, not vaccines in general, just to be clear, folks. Vaccines against covid which now even some European countries have come out and said it’s more dangerous for children to go through all these interventions measures in school than it is for them to actually get the disease, the virus.
CLAY: No doubt. I got a couple of things to hit here. One, I had a conversation with one of my good friends in California. He’s got several young kids, and he called me over the weekend and said, “Hey, we’re gonna move. The demand that kids get vaccinated for covid, which is statistically…” That was the final straw for them.
And every time one of these crazy mandates comes from California, real estate agents all over Texas, all over Tennessee, all over Florida, all over the people’s free states blow up. And, by the way, Fauci, Buck, has evidently already tried to walk back his Christmas comments because there was so much immediate criticism. We have new cut. Neither one of us have heard this.
I guess he went on CNN just recently and was asked anew about Christmas. The cut that we played you was from yesterday I think on CBS’ Face the Nation. Fauci now has gone on CNN because he was getting blown up with so much criticism over the idea that people might not be able to have a normal Christmas and he evidently has modified what he said. Our staff just grabbed that. Listen.
FAUCI: You know, I also said something over the weekend that was taken completely out of context. I was asked what can we predict for this winter, for, like, December and Christmas? (sputtering)
REPORTER: (snickering) I was gonna ask you.
FAUCI: Yeah. I mean, I say, you hold off on that. I said, we don’t know, because we’ve seen slopes go down and then came back up. The best way to ensure that we’ll be in good shape as we get into the winter would be to get more and more people vaccinated.
That was misinterpreted as my saying we can’t spend Christmas with our families, which was absolutely not the case. I’ll be spending this Christmas with my family. I encourage people — particularly the vaccinated people who are protected — to have a good, normal Christmas with your family.
But just the way all of the other disinformation goes around, you say something talking about a landmark of a time and it gets misinterpreted that I’m saying you can’t spend family Christmastime, which is nonsense.
BUCK: Damn liar, Clay.
CLAY: Total lie.
BUCK: That’s total bull crap.
CLAY: We didn’t take him out of context.
BUCK: “We can’t say for sure…” He did his usual thing. “I don’t know. Maybe in the future the data will be scary ’cause of droplets in the air.”
CLAY: Nobody misconstrued what he said or took it out of context. We played you the clip!
BUCK: We played the actual clip. Yeah. He said we can’t say yet whether you can enjoy Christmas. Guys, he’s a little psycho. How much more do you need to hear before you understand he is a power mad loon and the only way for him to go at this point is to keep doubling and tripling down on everything that he’s been saying. Why does anybody listen to his predictions about anything, Clay?
CLAY: I’m asking you, after you hear the Christmas — and now, he tried to walk back the Christmas comment by blaming other people for his own failure when it came to the Christmas comment. The reason why I bring this up, Buck, is the fact that he’s walking that comment back and basically saying, “Hey, if you’re vaccinated you can have a normal Christmas now,” is — I guarantee you — because they are getting polling data.
He likes to pretend that it’s all about the science and he doesn’t about politics and everything else even though he is a political animal. I would love to know what the favorability level ratings are now for Dr. Fauci, because the question that he got from Hugh Hewitt that we played you week or we talked about was a good one. He’s become so polarizing because of his lies and because of all the predictions he’s made that have been totally wrong that he is a massive hindrance to the thing that he claims to care about, which is ending covid in America — and, oh, by the way, if covid ends, he has no reality anymore. He doesn’t exist.
BUCK: Yeah. You have to assume that he likes this at this point, meaning that he likes being in charge, that this is the way he wants things to go, that he wants to continue on being… Because otherwise, Clay, he’s a bureaucrat. This guy’s been in the NIH for how many decades at this point? He could… Deborah Birx realized that he was too much for her. She stepped aside.
Fauci won’t step aside. Why is that? Because he’s been elevated. There are people walking around with Fauci T-shirts. There are little bobblehead dolls that libs put on their desks. There’s Gretchen Whitmer, the governor of Michigan — who’s also changing her tune a little bit, because people have had enough — with a little knit pillow or crocheted pillow with Fauci’s face on it in the background for all of her TV hits. This guy has become a symbol, and he knows it. And his whole pretense that he’s just “the science;” he’s just doing this or that is not true. It’s just not reality.
CLAY: You just heard him caught in a lie. We just caught him in a lie playing those two clips back-to-back to open this show. Everybody out there who heard that, he wasn’t misconstrued. He said that they couldn’t potentially have a normal Christmas and then because people rebelled, finally people are starting to rebel in an open way and the polling must be bad ’cause they trotted him out to CNN to change what he had said over the weekend.
BUCK: This is a guy who the foundational lie of lockdownerism, Fauciism was that he said that masks don’t work for on our own benefit because we’re gonna run out of masks. By the way, we’ve never run out of masks. The idea that we’ve run out of masks when you see actually what the production capabilities of United States and China are, is absurd. But that was…
He has admitted lying to the public. So if you wanted to protect yourself in March of 2020 because you thought… You know, by the way, masks don’t work, but that’s a whole other thing. You say, “Oh, they work at 5%.” Yeah, like people should really be so concerned about a 5% change in the possibility of getting covid when you’re seeing the vaccines now are how effective after six months?
CLAY: Not very effective at all against Delta after six months.
BUCK: We’ll talk more about that in a moment. But he’s admitted to lying for our own good. This a guy who lies and gets predictions wrong all the time, and he won’t step aside. Why is that? Because he also creates a shield for the Biden administration. He has it both ways, Clay. He gets to make the determination and pass it off to Biden, this White House, the politicians.
He says, “I’m just an adviser. Don’t get mad at me. It’s just the science I’m passing along.” And then when people want to hold Biden accountable, what does Biden say? “I’m just listening to the scientists. I’m just going with what the experts tell me.” So this is how you get to a point where no one actually has to stand up and defend.
I think I was told on the flight back yesterday 50 times — not just me personally, but the whole plane — you gotta mask up in between bites. If you’re not sure actively eating… This is the official FAA guidance now because our country is run by morons: If you’re not actively eating, you have to have a mask over your face, your mouth, and your nose at all times.
CLAY: And when is that ever going to end? I just don’t know, when you’ve got people like Fauci coming out on Sunday saying you can’t do Christmas, and now he has to come back and say the opposite. All of this is pure madness.
