TRUTH Social’s Devin Nunes Explains the Igor Danchenko Trial
18 Oct 2022
CLAY: Twenty-one days from now are the midterm elections. And certainly, when you look at the way that the 2020 elections were impacted, it’s interesting to contemplate as more and more stories come out about what exactly happened with Hunter Biden, the laptop, the ability to cover it up. We bring in now Devin Nunes, former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, CEO of Trump Media and Technology Group.
You were at our one-year anniversary party. Devin, appreciate you being there. And we talked then. But things are really heating up as it pertains to the Hunter Biden laptop, which 51 intelligence agents signed a letter claiming that it was not real. I’m curious, as you see more and more evidence that everything on that laptop was verified and true. How much of a rig job did we see in the 2020 election in terms of not allowing that story to be shared widely?
NUNES: Well, thanks, guys. Great to be with you. And the way I look at this, this all started with the corruption in ’15 and ’16 and everything is interrelated. So, when you go from the Russia hoax that we uncovered as Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee, you have a lot of the same players within the FBI and the DOJ. And, in fact, you have a lot of the same people that were in the Obama-Biden administration that now are at the top levels of the Department of Justice today.
We thought three or four years ago when we got Strzok and Page and we kind of were able to expose them, expose McCabe and Comey, we thought that, “Well, good. Now the FBI is going to reform itself.” But I think what we’re seeing is that it was a lot… it was the same players that were involved in the Mar-a-Lago raid, that were involved in the Whitmer case, where you had more FBI informants than you had actual American citizens that were involved in that.
And it appears like, you know, on the Hunter Biden laptop, it was the same crew. So, we’re just paying a price for that. I think everybody’s watching the Durham trial. Well, we’re all hopeful, but I think we all sit here and scratch our heads, especially those of us that are close to this, as to why hasn’t Durham been able to bring charges against the FBI and the DOJ? And because, clearly, if you’re watching this trial at all, that’s who’s on trial here. It’s the FBI and the DOJ, not so much Danchenko.
BUCK: And if we can bring it, Devin, back to the beginning of the Russia collusion hoax, which was really the biggest political dirty trick in our lifetime, and also a massive form of election denial using the investigative and prosecutorial arm of the government by the Democrats to accomplish that election denial. The Igor Danchenko trial is going on right now.
We haven’t talked about this on the show, but this goes to the dossier, the basis of the Russia collusion delusion and the Democrat dirty tricks. Can you just lay out for everybody, what is the Igor Danchenko trial about and what does it mean?
NUNES: Yeah. I think simply put, for those people that are unaware of it and like everything in the Russia hoax and in the swamp, there’s so many different bit players. But this is pretty simple. This was a guy who lived outside of Washington, D.C., Danchenko. He had been what you would call a long-term Democratic operative, swamp creature, worked at the Brookings Institute, had all sorts of connections.
Well, he was working directly with the Clinton campaign, essentially just taking orders, taking dirt and smut, and then re-reporting it to Christopher Steele, who wrote the dossier. So, you essentially…it was like a circular pattern where you had Clinton people spreading information to this, you know, Russian-born guy who was a Dem operative who then fed it back to Steele, who was working for both the FBI and the Clinton campaign.
And what started out as probably what was a dirty trick or an insurance policy to guard against possibly the Russians or the Chinese having the Hillary Clinton missing hard drives turned into an absolute get Trump and get Republicans and the weaponization of the FBI and DOJ against Trump. And I would say the Republican Party. And it just hasn’t stopped.
And so, who’s on trial is Danchenko is on trial now, this Dem operative, for lying to the FBI but is somebody who’s just if you watch it all, just watch this trial, Durham has been absolutely destroying the FBI itself in the course of this trial. And they’re deliberating now. I guess it’s a good sign that the jury has deliberated now for what appears to be at least one day, which is unlike the previous trials of either Republicans who they try them for about, you know, 10 seconds and find them guilty.
Or when the Clinton campaign operative, Sussman skated in Washington, D.C. a few months ago, I think that jury only deliberated a couple of hours. So, at least it seems like the jury in northern Virginia has taken this case a little bit more seriously.
CLAY: Devin, how infuriating is it to hear for years now? Democrats who are effectively making their entire midterm campaign a predicate of January 6th and the threat to democracy that denying the legitimacy of elections can bring when you witnessed them deny Donald Trump’s win in 2016 in a way that, frankly, I’m not sure has ever occurred in its scope and magnitude for as long as it did, to just immediately flip the switch in 2020, has got to be infuriating.
NUNES: Well, yeah, and look at somebody who was there in 2020 or 2021 on January 6th, you know, yeah, it was a riot. But what people aren’t talking about is, you know, I’ve been there for several presidential inaugurations and, you know, there was always fencing up. I was, you know, in the Gang of Eight, I was briefed ahead of time that, “Hey, you know, they’re going to expect big crowds,” which typically you would have fencing, and at least some type of National Guard.
Well, now, I knew at the time because, you know, that night you had the Democrats were celebrating the night of January 6th. You know, they act like they’re all sad and they were scared. Well, now it comes out that you’ve got Nancy Pelosi’s daughter with a film crew following her around. It now comes out that Pelosi and her team didn’t want the National Guard. Why the fencing wasn’t up, you know, we’ll never know.
And then once again, you had the FBI and the DOJ involved in this with informants that were on the ground that were inciting people to go into the Capitol, that still are sitting out there, have never been arrested. And, meanwhile, you have people that are rotting in jail. And so, you know, I always just have to remind people that, yeah, riots are bad. You should… anybody who actually broke a window or broke into the Capitol, you know, they should be prosecuted.
But we have to keep in mind, it is our First Amendment right to free speech for people to protest in Washington, D.C. And, in fact, you see it every single day of the week. If you’ve ever been in Washington, there are always protests going on and there are a lot of people who disagree with the election results. And I’m sorry, Republican or Democrat, you have the right to go to your nation’s capital and protest. That’s a basic right of our citizens.
And I’ll tell you, you know, that’s part of, you know, why I left Congress to create TRUTH Social, is because I knew I watched the Hunter Biden laptop story. I watched, you know, half of America who didn’t know the truth about the Russia hoax. I watched Parler get destroyed by Big Tech. And I just said, look, we can’t even, we’re in a propaganda war here. We’re losing. And our access to have our voice on the Internet is gone. And, you know, that’s part of why I left and that’s why I’m running TRUTH Social now.
BUCK: Devin Nunes, he is the CEO of Trump Media and technology group TRUTH Social. Clay and I are on it. You all can download it and check it out. Devin, stay in the fight, our friend. Thanks so much.
NUNES: Thanks a lot, guys. It’s always a pleasure to be with you.
