The story continued to evolve, with the final news being fresh scrutiny of the Memphis Police Department’s anti-violence unit launched last year.
It’s called SCORPION: Street Crimes Operation to Restore Peace in Our Neighborhoods. Officers from the unit were were among those who allegedly beat Nichols to death after a traffic stop on January 7th.
