Our Awkward, Uncomfortable, Unbelievable Veep

CLAY: Kamala Harris just continues, Buck, to put together the most awkward, uncomfortable, unbelievable segments. It’s Veep on steroids. Here is Kamala Harris talking about the passage of time, guys.

BUCK: The passage of time, Clay, is when the time is passing through a passage (pause) of time.

CLAY: I looked this up, and no joke, I was sharing this clip with my wife last night. I was, like, “You’ve got to watch this,” and we got into a discussion about it. What law school did Kamala Harris go to? Because when you hear all of these incredibly awful gaffes from Kamala Harris, she sounds like a kid that has got a paper that they have to have enough words in.

Anybody out there listening, you know how you had to hit the 1500-word limit or whatever and you basically reword the same paragraph three or four different times. She sounds like that when she’s talking at all these public events, and she also has this hectoring tone as if she’s saying something incredibly profound the way she’s delivering it.

BUCK: She went to the University of Hastings.

CLAY: Yeah, I looked it up last night. I didn’t know that. Did you know that without looking it up?

BUCK: No, I just checked. I was trying to throw that in to help out.

CLAY: Because that was the question we had. We said, “How elite of a law school did she go to?” I knew she was a lawyer, but U.C. Hastings. We’ve probably got U.C. Hastings people that are, like, “Don’t hang this on us!”

BUCK: Look, some people, they’re working a job while they’re in law school. They get some money to go to that school. Scholarship high school. So there were kids who went to Holy Cross who could have gotten into Ivies but they got full rides. There’s a lot of stuff that goes into it.

CLAY: I took a scholarship to go to GW. That happens. But you know what? She may have wanted to stay with her boyfriend there in San Francisco, Willie Brown. I think that might have factored in a little bit, Buck. Maybe that’s why she went to Hastings.
