CLAY: The View is important because it gives you… If you want to have a sense of what “the view” is, so to speak, of the mind-set or from inside the mind of, you know, semiliterate liberals across America, you turn on The View for a second. You see, “What is the lowest common denominator of lib politics today and what do they think and believe?” It is instructive in that sense but they’re already making the case what we’ve been saying for a long time is already happening which is that you’re gonna have to do this crazy stuff forever. Listen.
BUCK: I’m sorry. I feel bad. It’s like listening, Clay, to someone who’s having an ongoing panic attack being televised nationally for everyone to see. These people are nuts. There’s something wrong. They need therapy. They need emotional and psychological assistance. And, unfortunately, we have to call this out because they’re making it worse for other people that are having this anxiety disorder, too, by making it seem normal. It is not normal.
CLAY: Their fears should not take away from yours and mine’s and everybody out there listening’s freedoms, and I think that’s an important message to put out there. If she feels so terrified to go on a subway without a mask, it’s not a normal issue. You are a neurotic, you are a germophobe, you are likely providing no benefit to yourself at all. But you can make that choice.
What should occur is your freedoms and your psychological instability and your irrational fear should not be allowed to take away the freedoms of the rest of us. And that, unfortunately, is what’s happening. And my wife said this, Buck, and we set the over-under on this. How long is it gonna be that you have to wear a mask on an airplane? How is this going to end? I don’t know if it’s going to end before 2024.
That was the first flight I took where they said, “Hey, you have to have a mask on.” This is the first time I’ve been on a flight where when you gave your ticket to get onto the airplane where when you were sitting on the plane both of these flights not one flight attendant did I hear say, “Hey, you have to get your mask up. You need your mask is up. It’s down below your nose.” It didn’t happen the entire flight.
BUCK: Clay, anybody who is enforcing — or pushing others to enforce at risk of losing their jobs or being sanctioned in some way — a mask-up-between-bites policy is engaged in obvious absurdity. We need to be very clear — and Fauci, if we had a real press, would be pushed on this, should be pushed on this. People should say, “Excuse me. The planes aren’t even situation where you could keep the mask on the whole time, unless you’re gonna tell everybody you’re not allowed to eat and not allowed to drink.” See how well that goes over, by the way, for people on six-, eight-, 12-, 14-hour flights, to drinking or else with kids. Think about this.
CLAY: The other thing that happened, I fly Southwest out of Nashville because it’s the most common airline. Buck, for a year, over, like, a year and a half now, they’ve walked around when they’ve given you a beverage, and they had a placard, and you had to hold one, two, three, or four fingers up to demonstrate what you wanted to drink. It’s like water, Coke, whatever the options were. No alcohol.
You hold up the fingers. They’ve done away with that, and so I wonder if they’re trying to tiptoe back to normalcy without making a big show of because they were giving normal drinks and they were not telling anybody, “Hey, you have to pull up your mask, make sure your…” and it was two different flights. I wonder if there’s been something that went out, if you work at Southwest or you’re a flight attendant, have you gotten an indication that you don’t need to be as Draconian in your policing of masks of late, I’d love to know.

TRUSTEE LEANDRA BLADES: I was just going to address to speakers at the podium because we have —
BOARD PRESIDENT CARRIE BUCK: You also need to have your mask on.
TRUSTEE LEANDRA BLADES: Well, I’m speaking now.
BOARD PRESIDENT CARRIE BUCK: It’s not about sp… You have to wear it no matter when you’re speaking.
TRUSTEE LEANDRA BLADES: Dr. Fauci was able to. Dr. Fauci spoke without his mask on.
BOARD PRESIDENT CARRIE BUCK: In this building, we have to wear masks.
TRUSTEE LEANDRA BLADES: Okay. (laughing)
CROWD: (laughing)
TRUSTEE LEANDRA BLADES: So — so I’m also seeing that people aren’t wearing them correctly. So we have —
BOARD PRESIDENT CARRIE BUCK: So at this time, I’m going to adjourn the meeting at 6:02!
CLAY: They think they’re on the right side, Buck. That is maybe what is the most alarming, all these people are convinced they’re on the right side of history. And, by the way, they haven’t studied much history, because if they had, they would understand that the people who are taking away freedom are very rarely — in the long run — considered to be on the right side of history.
